Private House 1, Putra Heights

Wellness & Mindfulness

This is a bungalow interior fit-out and extension project. To meet client’s needs, the entire façade has been remodelled to reflect the internal spaces, allowing natural diffused daylights to penetrate through carefully formed ceiling; and reconnect spaces by punctuating existing floor slab to allow for double height volume in the central heart of the house. The gateway to the house is through a contemporary tropical garden planted with fern-like vegetation which reminiscent the owner’s hometown landscape. Opposite the gateway is formal entrance to the house with a generous foyer that leads to a living space that opens out to the pool garden. The openness of the living, dining and kitchen spaces allow the owner to carry out activities conveniently and to entertain guests freely. The focal point of these spaces are also further enhanced by the central double volume space above the dining area, which generates a dramatic sensation to the lounging experience. On the first floor, one of the existing bedrooms and balcony has been transformed into a snug and a study area. The existing family which was tiny and dark has given way to create a double height volume for the dining area. One can experience greater visual connectivity and flow of space from this level due to the strategic positioning of the double volume space. Overall, the room suites, large and small spaces were designed with a strong contemporary and minimalistic approach and yet, creating a cosy and homely feeling.
